HEIGHTENED REALITY is what i’m calling my new series of illustration exercises in imagined conceptualization and accurate representation. All drawings depict my real friends surrounded by things that are either original designs or referenced. i will give credit to all things extant.
This is the first set of results, all in graphite and ink.

Most painful memory-organizing experience yet. This is my home video mix of my trip to Japan with Xavier and his family last April 2012. Do turn HD on.

I went to Japan for a little over a week, last April 2012 with Xavier and his family. We hit Osaka, Toba, Nara, Kyoto, and Tokyo. These are some photos that came out of it.
It was the most romantic, loveliest trip ever, and one of the greatest and funnest… And the memories will forever stay with us.

I ultimately finished this video during my Seattle airport layover. It’s made up of footage gathered during the past year, of parts near and of Portland, and of Xavier riding his Buell Firebolt around the city.
I moved back to the Philippines, and this little film is to remind me of the possibilities and significance Portland still holds for me when I decide to come back. Hopefully then, I would have better knowledge and equipment in order to make something more professional and truly remarkable.

This is a video from the beginning of this month (August ‘11).
When Nacho visited (as a jump off point to and from his New Mexico hunt), we spent one day leisurely exploring Sauvie Island, right beside Portland, Oregon.
This is a mini-memento video. Motorcycle is care of Xavier Dominguez, although he lends it to his twin brother Nacho in the video. Xavier’s actually driving me around in his Baja. Shot with a Canon. Music is by Yann Tiersen.
Hopefully, I won’t stop experimenting this way.

Just came back from a three-week trip to Greece. Two weeks were spent taking an Art and Cycladic Culture course with Hellenic International Studies in the Arts. My home base was Paros island and the course entailed lots of walking, hiking, swimming, eating, island hopping, and sailing. In the video are clips that depict Athens, Argolis, Delphi, Corinth, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Delos, and Santorini.

These are from my most recent show called “But With A Whisper”. It’s still up at Crazy Eddie’s at The Collective by B-Side on Malugay street in Makati. Whew.
I am the worst at taking photos of my art. You can see shadows and some things aren’t true to hue.

These are photos taken by art photographer Michael Demeo from Portland. He and his girl, Alyssa, own Sugar Gallery. I used to be shy exposing this side from me, but now I’m busting out on my shell.
On another more blog/rant note…
I am on the edge all of the time. I just recently finished the first painting in a collection I’m planning on showing here in Manila before I leave for the States again. When I was finished, I was screaming in utter joy. I had to let it all out, because it was such a painful process full of frustration. Knowing that I needed to get work done, as in other mandatory tasks in life, forced me to persevere amidst the battles within me. Am I really going to pursue a life in art when it not only serves as therapy, but also makes me suffer? Well, the answer is yes. Perhaps I should try write some songs and sing more often. It takes the heartache away, which I rationally attribute to the faulty compression of my lungs and my inherently irregular respiration. Or something.
I was born unable to breathe. A machine taught me how. I want a machine to help me relearn. I’m rusty.

I quit school.
I was going too crazy, allowing my psychological problems to bleed and ruin my school life.
These are works that were part of assignments before I left PNCA. Some, I never even submitted.

I am starting to get into fantasy scenes and concept landscapes or cityscapes. Stay tuned to witness the progress.
